Total Petrochemicals  Corporate film

The context
Total Petrochemicals, the fifth-largest petrochemical company in the world, heads the petrochemical activities of the Total group. With operations in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia, Total Petrochemicals employs 7000 people and occupies a leadership position in the field of base chemicals and mass market polymers. The pellets produced by the company are used in the manufacture of a very wide range of industrial and domestic products.

The challenge
To produce the concept for a five-minute silent film to serve as the company’s “business card,” and to make the film.
  • To address a very wide, international audience with very different cultural sensitivities
  • To make the film suitable for running in a loop, in particular at plastics trade fairs
  • To focus on a central subject, namely “From hydrocarbons to polymers,” with six key messages (the company’s international positioning, membership of the Total group, products and their uses, research and corporate social responsibility)

The solution
  • Theme: artists creating pictures made up of the multicoloured pellets produced by Total Petrochemicals
  • Images/chapters relating to the finished products in which the pellets are used, each underlined by key words relating to the chapters
  • An approach that is both universal (based on the creation of pictures in a “naive” style) and playful (with some special effects)
